Tamarind Optical Services - Meet Our Doctors
Dr. MacDonald was born and grew up in Halifax, but with strong Cape Breton roots spending every summer at her grandparents in Glace Bay. She attended Mount Allison and Dalhousie University before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2012.
As part of her training, she did a four-month ocular disease externship specializing in glaucoma management at the St. Albans Veterans hospital in Queens, NY. As a student, she had the opportunity to travel to Mexico, Jamaica, and South Africa, providing eyecare clinics to those in need.
Dr. MacDonald has been a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Optometry since 2012. As someone who needed glasses at a young age, she is passionate about providing pediatric care and knows how important eye care is for child development.
She is also very interested in providing dry eye therapy for her patients, aware of how much this can improve quality of life. In her spare time, Dr. MacDonald enjoys traveling, reading, and baking.
